Sorry if I seem like I’m ruining the magic, but Stanislav Petrov didn’t really save the world. Before Russia would’ve retaliated against the non existent ICBM they would’ve needed confirmation from several kinds of systems. Petrov’s report wouldn’t have been enough to motivate a retaliatory strike.
